Mrs. Becky Petersen, 8th Grade
This is my first year at St. Cecilia’s. After completing a long-term substitute position for middle school, I knew that this would be the right school for me. I am a graduate of Creighton University with a BA in Journalism and an MA in elementary education. It took me starting my professional career at a corporation to know that my true vocation would be in education.
I am a big believer in the Jesuit tradition of cura personalis, which is Latin for care of the whole person. I know that our students are sons and daughters, athletes and piano players, readers and singers. I believe in recognizing the emotional, intellectual, and spiritual development of each student, and feel it is my privilege to be their teacher.
Welcome to 307! We are keeping busy as we get close to Christmas break. Sixth grade students are learning about Ancient Greece. After completing the Greek Olympics, students are diving into Greek Mythology and are preparing to present their Greek God or Goddess.
The seventh grade students have been working hard on wrapping up their unit on Latin America. We will be continuing on to Eastern Asia, where students will learn all about the geography and culture of over 25 countries.
The eighth grade is steadily working on their History Day projects. This year's theme, Taking a Stand in History, has inspired many students to develop topics that truly interest them.
Room 307 is also gearing up for a kindergarten partner field trip. We will be taking our partners to see the gingerbread houses out at the Mormon Trail Center. When we return, we will also be making our own gingerbread houses!
