Mrs. Sheila Turbes, Library-Media Specialist
After 33 years of teaching in the Omaha Public Schools, I am thrilled to return to the place where I started my educational journey so many years ago - St. Cecilia Grade School! I am a lifelong parishioner and a graduate of both the grade school and Cathedral High School. From there I earned a Bachelors Degree in Education from Wayne State College and a Master of Science degree from UNO. I've taught 4th grade and middle school reading.
My husband, Bernie, and I have two daughters, Claire (26) and Emma (23), who are also graduates of St. Cecilia. Claire recently completed her Masters Degree in Applied Behavioral Analysis and works with children with autism. Emma is a graduate of Regis University in Denver and works as a manager for Enterprise. Both girls live together in Denver.
In my spare time, I take care of my 85 year old mother who has Alzheimer's and lives with us, play with our two miniature poodles, Dally and Kappy, take long walks, swim, and naturally read! Bernie and I try and get up to Colorado to relax and catch up with our daughters as often as possible. We also collect glassware year round for the Dime Pitch booth at Cathedralfest and are always happy to take those off your hand for you!
