St. Cecilia Cathedral School goes beyond the normal academic curriculum. We feel that it is important to meet the differentiated needs of our students and provide opportunities to explore their interests. We offer a wide variety of extracurricular activities to our students. Listed below are some of the many activities and clubs that are available to our students. Athletics At St. Cecilia's
Athletics are an integral part of a child's education. Participation, fun, teamwork, and competition are important. However, the primary goal of St. Cecilia Cathedral School is academics. Basketball - Participation is through the Parochial Athletic League (PAL) with team sizes varying depending upon the number of players. Ages: 3rd through 8th Grade, Boys & Girls
Grades 1-8 -Organized as the Cathedral Soccer Club, the Club is part of the Catholic Youth Soccer League (CYSL). Ages: Grades 1-8 Boys & Girls
Micro Soccer Grades PreK - K - A parish intramural soccer league. Ages: Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten
Track & Field - Participation is through the Parochial Athletic League (PAL), with team sizes varying depending upon the number of participants. Ages: 6th through 8th Grade, Boys & Girls
Volleyball - Participation is through the Parochial Athletic League (PAL), with team sizes varying depending upon the number of players. Ages: 5th through 8th Grade Girls
Academic/Trivia Competitions -Students train and compete in city-wide competitions such as The Thinking Cap, and Gross High and St. Vincent de Paul Quiz Bowls. Ages: 7th & 8th Grades
Altar Servers - Altar servers are trained to serve Mass at the Cathedral. Ages: 6th, 7th & 8th Grades JAN - MARCH SCHEDULE
Band Program - Music in Catholic School (MCS) is an Archdiocesan program which allows students to develop individual and group instrumental band skills. Participants receive two lessons per week during school hours. Students are brought together with musicians from other schools for band performances. Ages: 5th through 8th Grades
Chess Club - Is an after school program held once a week to increase a student’s knowledge of chess; as well as promote problem-solving and competitive skills. Students learn the game and compete against other students of similar abilities. Ages: 2nd through 8th Grades
Code Club - Code Club is a club for students interested in exploring and creating with technology. Students will be using online programming site Code.org. Ages: 4th & 5th Grade
Math Club - Sixth, seventh, and eighth grade students are invited to join. Activities include special math topics, problem solving and games. Students are also responsible for planning and implementing the annual all-school Math Fair. Ages: 6th, 7th & 8th Grade
Operetta - This is the St. Cecilia traditional annual musical. The cast is selected by audition from students 5th through 8th grade. The balance of students in 3rd through 8th grades perform in the chorus. Students auditioning for the cast commit to a rehearsal schedule of seven weeks preceding the show.
Robotics - Students build and program VEX robots in preparation for competition. No prior knowledge of robotics is necessary. General concepts of robotics are taught and students compete against teams of students from other area schools. Ages: 6th, 7th & 8th Grade
Roots & Shoots - This organization, founded by the Jane Goodall Institute, encourages young people to participate in service projects which help people, animals, and the environment. Ages: 6th, 7th & 8th Grade
Songfest - Students participate in a school-wide song and dance presentation for fellow students and families in the Monsignor Ernest Graham Parish Center gymnasium. Ages: Kindergarten through 8th Grade
Spanish Program - This is an after school program which provides students with an opportunity to develop an understanding of the Spanish language in a fun environment. Ages: 2nd through 5th Grade
TeamMates - TeamMates is a mentoring program that provides trained volunteer mentors from within our community. The goal of the program is to provide support and encouragement to our students. It gives the student hope, purpose, and vision. The mentors meet with their mentee one hour per week during the school day. Ages: 3rd – 8th Grade
