Giving Tuesday!
This year’s #GivingTuesday proceeds will be designated to the purchase of equipment and software for the planned STEAM Lab/Media Center at Saint Cecilia Cathedral School. We want our children to be the best prepared students in Omaha to achieve great things in high school and beyond.
Our goal is to raise $25,000 to get the program off and running. Our STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math) & Media Center will give them experience and enable them to excel.

Red Ribbon Week Activities Schedule
Take Your Parent to PE Week is Sept. 26-28
September 26-28, 2018 Active Schools, a national movement to help schools provide at least 60 minutes a day of physical education (PE) and before, during and after school for physical activity for all students, is sponsoring Take Your Parent to PE Week from September 26-28, 2018.
What is the purpose? To introduce your school’s PE program and teachers to parents so they will engage with PE throughout the year. And, to encourage families to be physically active together at home and in the community.
How can parents participate? By showing up for your child’s regularly scheduled physical education class on one of the days in which the school is participating in Take Your Parent to PE Week (PE schedule below).
What should parents do? 1. Attend your child’s regularly scheduled PE time on September 26, 27, or 28. 2. Come ready to move! You will be participating in class! 3. Learn how you can support PE both at school and home. For example, by asking what your child learned in PE class that day/week, being active together at home, and exploring community-based physical activity opportunities. 4. At the end of class, Tweet about your experience using the hashtag #ParentsLovePE.

Parent Volunteers / Helpers Needed!
Please contact Mrs. Pick (jpick@stcecilia.net) if you are interested in donating your time, talent, or treasure for one of the following projects:
- Painting bathrooms stalls with motivational messages, artistic designs, etc. If you have a creative spirit or love painting - this job is for you! Tami Tran is the parent leading this project and she cannot wait to get started (she has ideas, pictures, etc).
- Constructing cubbies for the closets in the classrooms. We are in need of a parent volunteer to lead the charge with this project. Who is handy with woodworking, construction, etc.? The teachers are very excited to have some organizational options in the closets, at an affordable cost.
- Campus clean up day before school! We are looking to organize a fun morning or afternoon of cleaning up our campus before school begins next fall. We need to repaint crosswalk lines, spruce up the blacktop out back, and see if any furniture can be removed from the 3rd floor of the old building. Many hands make light work!
- Parent Volunteer Coordinator for the 2018-19 School Year. This person would help in any efforts with organizing parents for helping with a wide variety of items around school: drop off/pick up, room parents, classroom calendars, etc.

Second Grade Service Project
In the country of Cameroon, Africa, children are unable to attend school if they do not have a pen.
During this Lenten season, we are collecting pens to donate to children in Cameroon.
As the second graders discovered: "One pen can send one child to school. Five pens can send five children to school. One hundred pens can send ONE HUNDRED children to school!"
Pens can be any color and any brand, new or gently used. Please drop them off at Room 207 or 208 or hang onto them and we will collect from classrooms on a regular basis until our deadline of March 15th.
